About the network
The general strategy of CaribVET resolves around the creation of effective partnership with regional and international organizations (joint activities, letters of agreement), and scientific and technical support provided to the countries (guidelines, protocols, training, discussions, exposure to experts…), an extraordinary asset for the Caribbean.
Context
Trade, globalization, tourism, in addition to the fast evolving regional and global environment represents additional constraints to the performance and maintenance of Veterinary Services in safeguarding animal health and production and minimizing the related economic losses from trade, and tourism.
CaribVET: collaborative Network promoting coordinated actions
The Caribbean Animal Health Network promotes the development of regional projects based on assessment of regional needs. Actions taken include the following areas:
- Epidemiological surveillance, control and eradication of diseases
- Identification of pathogen
- Prevention and emergency preparedness plans for priority diseases
Working Groups
CaribVET count with 9 working Groups that implementing regional activities and surveys with respect to decisions and recommendations of the Steering Committee focused on regional priority diseases
