PROCINORTE is the Cooperative Program in Agricultural Research and Technology, a regional mechanism that facilitates cooperative research activities of tri-lateral interest to Canada, Mexico and the United States. It was founded through an agreement between the public agricultural research institutes of Mexico, USA and Canada: Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC), Agricultural Research Service (ARS) of the US Department of Agriculture (USDA-ARS), Instituto Nacional de Investigaciones Forestales Agricolas y Pecuarias (INIFAP) and IICA that acts as the Executive Secretariat

The animal health task force's objective is to improve communication among the 3 countries concerning animal diseases and to work to harmonize diagnostics as much as possible. During annual meetings, they share technology, knowledge and expertise on several important animal diseases. Procinorte had invited CaribVET to participate for the third time in their annual meeting. A young PhD student from CENSA, Cuba Liani Coronado Baez has represented the CaribVET network and presented on her work "Positive selection pressure on E2 Protein of CSF Virus Drives Variations in Virulence, Pathogenesis and Antigenicity: Implications for Epidemiological Surveillance in Endemic Areas".

The outputs of the meeting will be shared with the CaribVET research group for follow-up.
